Comic-Con is nigh, and the burgeoning genre-oriented original content lineup of Amazon Prime Video will be showcased by the retail giant in an appropriately large fashion.

Amazon Prime Video revealed its plans for San Diego Comic-Con 2019, notably in the form of a 60,000 square-foot immersive explosion of ephemera complemented by the sight of a 40-foot multi-level tower affixed with giant LED screens previewing upcoming scripted content – called The Amazon Prime Video Experience. It will all be set on MLK and 1st, across from the San Diego Convention Center, starting on Thursday, July 18, running through Sunday July 21. Press (who are asked to RSVP,) will be invited for a preview of the feature on Wednesday, July 17.

However, there will be plenty more to do than stare at Big-Brother-like screens, since a variety of activities will be held. Besides a photo booth for cosplayers, the upcoming TV series adaptation of Garth Ennis’s irreverently ultraviolent comic book, The Boys, will be the focus of a bit of LARPing at the Audio Visual shop of character Hughie, involving the crime scene cover-up of a superhero kidnapping – in keeping with the show’s premise set in a world of corrupt costumed super-powered people. Additionally, The Expanse will be represented by a facsimile of its signature ship, the Rocinante, that will take fans on a United Nations peacekeeping mission to a newly colonized planet. Moreover, Carnival Row will manifest here with a Neo-Victorian-themed feature called The Forbidden Lounge, a hideaway in which humans and mythical creatures coexist. The activities represent a collaboration between Amazon and LG.

As if that wasn’t enough, you can even catch a bite to eat, courtesy of Carl’s Jr., which – as part of a campaign for The Boys – will provide burgers for attendees. Indeed, with all the calorie-burning walking that fans will be doing throughout the convention weekend, it might also be considered a guilt-free fast-food indulgence.
