The newest Wonder Woman poster reassures us that Diana's most iconic weapon will play a large role in the Wonder Woman movie.

Wonder Woman has been around for 75 years, but took her time getting to the big screen. That all changed when Patty Jenkins directed Gal Gadot as the most famous Amazon warrior in pop culture history when the Wonder Woman movie finally arrived, with a script by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns.

While we have no details about special features yet, Wonder Woman will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on September 19. You can pre-order it on Amazon.

Wonder Woman Story

Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of Warner Bros:

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

So, if you were wondering what was up with Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, here’s that origin story for you. To be fair, unlike Batman, whose origin is mandated by law to be recounted every single time he appears in a comic, TV show, movie, or commercial, Diana’s background isn’t as well known.

Wonder Woman Photos

The poster for the Wonder Woman movie is the most colorful picture that’s ever come out of the DC Extended Universe. Gal Gadot looks great in the more traditional blue and red armor!

Speaking about the Amazons’ costumes in the movie, Jenkins told Entertainment Weekly, “To me, they shouldn’t be dressed in armor like men. It should be different. It should be authentic and real—and appealing to women.”

“It’s total wish-fulfillment,” Jenkins added. “I, as a woman, want Wonder Woman to be hot as hell, fight badass, and look great at the same time—the same way men want Superman to have huge pecs and an impractically big body. That makes them feel like the hero they want to be. And my hero, in my head, has really long legs.”

There’s a brand new poster for the film, and like the others, it’s not shy about going for the colorful impact.
