Whilst having a chat with visual effects supervisor Karen E. Goulekas – who oversaw CGI effects on Roland Emmerich’s 10,000 BC, The Day After Tomorrow and Godzilla – a detail about a possible Emmerich future project emerged which doesn’t seem, on the surface, to have anything to do with his recently announced filming of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation.
When I asked Goulekas if she had any current projects that could be discussed, she mentioned that she was doing some VFX tests for Roland Emmerich…
“I’m doing tests now for which I’m recreating a historical character. That’s tricky because I can’t take that historical character and cyberscan and photograph and do facial capture. The tests are for a potential future Roland Emmerich film, and I’m doing it with Double Negative.”
Intriguing stuff, and I should mention that this chat was several days after the Foundation announcement. I guess the historical character could be an entry from the encyclopedia on Terminus…?
Keep an eye out at this site for the full interview with Karen.
