Warner Bros releases The Dark Knight Rises update

Warner Bros formally confirms the start of production on The Dark Knight Rises, and adds in a note or two about IMAX, and the film’s score…

Even though most of us had guessed this already, given the proliferation of set photos that have been found online, Warner Bros has now formally announced the start of production for its new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises.

The official press release confirms that the shoot will head to New York, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, India, England and Scotland, and also notes that Hans Zimmer is on scoring duties (although there’s no mention of James Newton Howard this time).

Perhaps the most interesting thing, though, is that Warner Bros has confirmed that director Christopher Nolan will be upping the IMAX quotient of the new movie. The key passage of the press release reads:

In helming ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, Christopher Nolan is utilizing IMAX cameras even more extensively than he did on ‘The Dark Knight’, which had marked the first time ever that a major feature film was partially shot with IMAX® cameras. The results were so spectacular that the director wanted to expand the use of the large-format cameras for this film.”
