At the moment, The Edge of Seventeen series has a pilot-production commitment. Annabel Oakes (Transparent, Atypical) is working on the pilot script, which will follow a high school student and her best friend as they go through the ups and downs of life as a teenage girl. YouTube voices “subvert[ing] standard teen show tropes” as a goal of the series.

For those who missed The Edge of Seventeen flick, it stars Steinfeld as Nadine Franklin, a high school junior who lives in the Portland suburbs.
