Stuber Trailer has Classic Buddy Comedy Written All Over It

Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani in Stuber

Dave Bautista is everywhere and we’re not mad about it. Denis Villeneuve’s Dune remake? He’s in it. Zack Snyder’s pricey Netflix zombie flick Army Of The Dead? You know Dave rolled up. Avengers: Endgame? Maybe! Starting a beef with Disney over James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 firing? Bautista was on fuming form.

This summer, Dave will also be in action buddy comedy Stuber, which just got a really positive reaction from the audience at SXSW, and now Fox (Fisney?) has released a first trailer for the movie so we can get a look at it, too.

Stuber stars the iconic wrestler alongside comedian and Oscar-nominated screenwriter writer Kumail Nanjiani, who just joined Marvel’s The Eternals in a major role. The pair become an unlikely team when Bautista’s LAPD cop hijacks Nanjiani’s Uber for the day on the trail of a very bad man, probably ruining Nanjiani’s 5-star rating for the forseeable as they get into scrape after scrape in the name of justice.

The film’s directed by Goon‘s Michael Dowse, if you weren’t already sold on the premise and trailer, and the screenplay was written by relative newcomer Tripper Clancy, who won the Script Pipeline Screenwriting Contest against some tough competition back in 2010.

Take a look…

We would advise you avoid some of the major reviews of Stuber that were published after its SXSW screening, as there were a lot of spoilers in them – best to swerve until after you’ve seen it we reckon!

Stuber opens on July 12, and co-stars Karen Gillen and Iko Uwais.
