Before any details were revealed about J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars sequel, The Force Awakens, dream casting was underway. Not just in our heads, but in the wonderful head of the MCU’s Wasp, too.
Evangeline Lilly has confessed at a Boston expo (via CNET) that she was willing to do something she’d not even thought to attempt since her character Kate bowed out at the confusing denoument of Abrams’ TV creation Lost – use her connections to get ahead of the curve and place herself front and centre as a possible new Princess Leia.
“When JJ (Abrams) announced that he was gonna do his first Star Wars film, I reached out to his producing partner for the first time ever since Lost ended. I never requested anything ever before, and I said, ‘I wanna be Leia! Make me Leia!'”
Eventually, the shape that The Force Awakens would take became clear, and Lilly must have known that her hopes were dashed as Carrie Fisher returned to the iconic role and put any Young Leia remake or reboot notions to bed.
But that doesn’t mean Lilly can’t grab a different part in a future Star Wars film, does it? As Walt said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
