Silencer: Exclusive Clip of Danny Trejo and Johnny Messner Actioner

In an exclusive clip from the action movie, Silencer, stars Danny Trejo and Johnny Messner take care of business.

Silencer is an upcoming action movie that will showcase stars Danny Trejo (the Machete movies, Predators) and Johnny Messner (The Equalizer, Running Scared) in their ever-loving ass-kicking element. It’s set to arrive as a DVD/Blu-ray/Digital release that’s clearly under the ethos, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

We have an exclusive Silencer clip, showcasing a scene that seems to depict a tension-filled calm before the film’s inevitable storm of bloodshed. The scene is a precursor to the inciting incident of the movie, which centers on Messner’s character, a retired hitman who’s trying his hardest to stay retired; a notion that clearly won’t remain an option when his former gangster employer (Trejo) decides to kidnap the hitman’s beloved step-daughter.

Joining the primary duo of Messner and Trejo in the Silencer cast are Nikki Leigh (Sangre Negra, Open Marriage), ever-prolific onscreen thug Robert LaSardo (Death Race, CSI: Miami) and a pair of MMA legends in Chuck Liddell (Kick-Ass 2, War Pigs) and Tito Ortiz (Boo 2! A Madea Holloween, Zombie Strippers).

Interestingly, the latter two MMA duo happen to be at the center of one of the sport’s most iconic rivalries (with Liddell having won both of their classic UFC bouts). However, it gets even more interesting, since a few months after Silencer drops, the two cast members are going to fight each other… for real. I can’t think of any movie that has a narrative like that moving towards its release.

Indeed, with the event penciled-in for November 24 on PPV, Liddell – long retired – is coming back to the sport (outside of the UFC for boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions,) to once again tangle with his old rival, Ortiz, some 12 years since their last bout.

The movie is directed by Timothy Woodward Jr. (Gangster Land, American Violence), working off a script by Sean Mick.

Silencer will first be released Digitally and On Demand on September 4, with physical releases on Blu-Ray Combo and DVD set for September 18.
