David F. Sandberg’s recent horror film franchise entry, Annabelle: Creation, won some solid reviews and good box office this past August, making him a highly-sought helmer. However, Sandberg – who previously gave us Lights Out – is apparently already deep into his next film in Warner Bros’ upcoming DC Comics movie Shazam.

Indeed, Sandberg is attached to direct Shazam for Warner Bros, which, as it turns out, will be the next movie on the DC Extended Universe slate to shoot, continuing the continuity of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman, as well as this fall’s Justice League and 2018’s Aquaman. He confirmed this in an interview with Filmriot, where he also added that the script for the movie is finished, and it’s pretty much full steam ahead.

Consequently, the latest news on the Shazam movie front has arrived in the form of a shooting schedule that has surfaced on Canadian film industry site What’s Shooting, brandishing the purported production schedule (under the pseudonym “Franklin,”) of February 5 to May 4, 2018 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In the aforementioned interview, Sandberg also touched on why Black Adam – set to be played by Dwayne Johnson – doesn’t feature in the movie, and is instead being spun into his own feature. The answer? Inevitably, so Shazam can focus solely on its main character. “There’ve been variations of the script, like before I came along, where.. you know, variations where Black Adam was in and out. But now, this is about Shazam,” Sandberg confirmed.

Shazam is currently scheduled for an April 5, 2019 release. The full schedule of DC superhero movies can be found here.
