Quite brilliant Green Hornet news

Stephen Chow has signed on to direct Seth Rogen in The Green Hornet. Stephen Chow!

The Green Hornet: finally arriving in 2010

It’s been long-known that Seth Rogen was attached to play the Green Hornet in the upcoming movie of the same name, with the comic book hero due to be heading to our screens on June 25th 2010. Rogen is also on scripting duties, along with his Superbad co-scriber Evan Goldberg (the pair also wrote Pineapple Express). And now? Sony has lured Stephen Chow, the Den Of Geek favourite behind the likes of Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle and CJ7, to direct.

Chow is also set to star opposite Rogen in the film, which will mark his Hollywood debut. And we can only hope that Sony leaves him to make his film in the style of the likes of the sublime Shaolin Soccer, and certainly the noises being made in the announcement seem to lean in that direction. Rogen in particular seems mighty pleased to have Mr Chow on board, commenting “Stephen was always my and Evan’s first choice for director and to play Kato. We just hope that he never finds out we’re not the Wachowski Brothers”.

Rogen will next be seen in Kevin Smith’s Zach & Miri Make A Porno, while Chow’s CJ7 – which we reviewed on import here – is coming to region 2 DVD shortly…
