Pitch Perfect 3 is the second-highest-grossing musical comedy of all time. The highest-grossing is Pitch Perfect 2. And the first one did pretty well too.
Another sequel was obviously going to happen sooner or later, and it looks like Rebel Wilson has just confirmed it with a not-so-cryptic Instagram post.
Sharing a selfie with co-stars Anna Camp, Brittany Snow and Chrissie Fit, Wilson shows the four girls posing with four fingers held up, above a caption with four hearts in it.
The sort-of-official announcement flies in the face of something series screenwriter Kay Cannon told E!last year, when she confirmed that Pitch Perfect 3 would be the end of the Bellas, saying that she had a feeling on set that everyone was thinking “how much longer can we be singing a capella?”.
She has a point. But since pretty much every cast member has since spoken about how much they’d love to do another sequel – and since the last movie made so much money – it seems like someone is going to have to write the Bellas another good reason to get back on stage.
“Oh definitely,” Wilson told People when they asked her about the possibility of more sequels. “I love working with these girls. Even if they don’t pay us to be in movies we’ll make our own movie on our phones because we love each other.”
