New trailer for Frank Miller’s The Spirit

The Spirit: arriving soon...

In between dropping hints that the next Sin City movie may be moving ahead shortly, Frank Miller has been hard at work putting the finishing touches to his film adaptation of The Spirit. Set for release at the end of the year in the States, and on 2nd January 2009 in the UK, The Spirit is based on the Will Eisner comic book about a resurrected cop who returns to fight against the nasties of Central City. Miller has written the screenplay and directed the film, which stars Gabriel Macht in the title role, alongside Samuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Jaime King and Eva Mendes

The film is now believed to be finished, and a second trailer for it has been unleashed, which expands quite a lot on the first. It shows us Samuel L Jackson looking suitably bonkers, which we always find helps things a lot. You’ll find that first, and if you haven’t seen the original trailer (replete with Ennio Morricone’s terrific music from The Untouchables), we’ve included that down at the bottom. We have everything crossed that the film lives up to its potential…
