A couple of weeks ago, it was rumoured that Warner Bros would be releasing a six-minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises, which would be screening before IMAX showings of the incoming Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
That has since been confirmed, and it repeats the approach Warner Bros took with The Dark Knight, where it screened the first scene ahead of the release of I Am Legend, back in 2008.
We also now know that the prologue will be screening from 16th December, and that it’s been rated by the MPAA. The six minutes have been granted a PG-13 rating in the US, citing “some violence”. We’ve checked, and in the UK the BBFC hasn’t announced any certification for the prologue over here as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted as and when we hear anything.
It all points, somewhat inevitably, to a PG-13 rating for the final cut of The Dark Knight Rises. We’d put hard cash on Warner Bros targeting a 12A rating in the UK.
We’re still awaiting confirmation that a fresh trailer for the film will also appear next month. It’s a strong possibility (and we’ve heard that there are some big, big trailers coming in the next few weeks outside of Batman), but again, we await definitive news on it.
The film itself is finally set to wrap shooting this month, before the extensive post-production begins. The movie is scheduled for release on 20th July 2012.
