Mahershala Ali is definitely having a moment. Both an Oscar nominee and frontrunner for Moonlight (and deservedly so at that), things have been going well for the highly in demand actor. Also appearing in awards darling Hidden Figures, plus Netflix staples like House of Cards and Luke Cage, the last few years have been busy for Ali. That doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.
Indeed, THR reports that Ali has been tapped to appear in J.C. Chandor’s next film, Triple Frontier, which would place him opposite Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy. With a screenplay by Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty), the film is described as an “action adventure” that’s set along the border of Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil. The film has a strong cast coming together, and is likely one to watch since Chandor has had award success before in movies like Margin Call and All is Lost, as well as his most recent film, the gritty drama, A Most Violent Year.
Currently, Ali is filming the next Robert Rodriguez film, the 2018 sci-fi actioner, Alita: Battle Angel.
