Liam Neeson Joins Indie Thriller Retribution

Wall Street executive takes his family on an explosive ride in Liam Neeson’s new action thriller Retribution.

Things are speeding up again for Liam Neeson. The British actor will headline the upcoming independent thriller Retribution. Described as an updated and more compact Speed, the movie is a remake of the Spanish film El Desconocido (2015). The original, which starred Carlos Tosar, was nominated for eight Goya Awards.

The screenplay was written by Chris Salmanpour and Andrew Baldwin.

Neeson will play a well off Wall Street executive who is told by an anonymous caller that bombs have been in his car, which he is driving with his family beside him. He is told the bombs will go off if he doesn’t follow a series of increasingly harrowing instructions.

Retribution is the fourth collaboration Neeson is making with Studiocanal, which is producing Retribution with The Picture Company’s Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman, and Jaume Collet-Serra and Juan Sola of Ombra Films. No director has been set yet. Collet-Serra directed Unknown, Non-Stop and The Commuter, the four films Neeson made with Studiocanal, but will not be directing this one.
