King Of The Jungle: McAfee Biopic Adds Johnny Depp

John McAfee made anti-virus sofware. Then, er, his life took a major turn. Johnny Depp is set to star in the movie version of it.

How about a biopic about the man behind McAfee ant-virus computer software? Now there’s a pitch meeting.

Yet that’s what’s happening, as the story of John McAfee is heading to the big screen in what’s being described as a dark comedy. The movie in question is called King Of The Jungle, and it’s been written by Ed Wood and The People Vs OJ Simpson scribes Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, of Crazy Stupid Love fame are directing.

Johnny Depp is set to take the lead in the movie too, and play John McAfee. And if you’re wondering just how interesting a story it’s likely to be, well, consider this. McAfee, after making his money through his computer software, cashed out. He then took his fortune, and moved to the Belize jungle. There, he set up what’s been described as a “Colonel Kurtz-like compound of guns, sex and madness.”

There might just be a movie there after all…
