Since the title of the Kevin Smith-directed cop comedy starring Bruce Willis was originally mentioned, it’s always been said that it’d be changing. Warner Bros wasn’t immensely keen on A Couple Of Dicks, and as such – given that this is a Warner Bros, rather than a Kevin Smith picture – it was never likely to stick.
Over at Slashfilm, Kevin Smith has now confirmed for definite that the name is changing, and that a new one has been chosen. That’s not to say that he’s able to tell us what the new title is. Instead, here’s what he said to say:
“The Movie Formerly Known as A COUPLE OF DICKS has finally settled on a (network-policy-dictated) replacement title! While we’ll always have DICKS in our hearts, the title we just now locked makes me smile on a bunch of different levels – including this 1: we can now advertise our movie properly (& ironically). And said marketing begins… on every print of SHERLOCK HOLMES, Christmast Day.”
We’ll be discovering the new title in the next day or two, as Warner Bros is set to announce it. Given that the film is due out in February (the 26th, to be exact), we can then expect the marketing and promotion to begin in earnest. Watch this space…
