Warner Bros. adaptation of the DC Comics property Jonah Hex is set to begin production in April with some cast details emerging.
Oscar-nominated actors John Malkovich and Josh Brolin are set to star in the American Civil War Western, first seen in publication in 1972. Jonah Hex will be directed by Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears A Who) and written by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor who wrote and directed Crank together.
Of the plot, Variety says, “Malkovich will play Turnbull, a wealthy Southern plantation owner whose son is killed by Union soldiers during the Civil War. He blames Hex, a former confederate soldier-turned-hardened bounty hunter and gunslinger.”
Brolin was recently Oscar-nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Milk whilst Malkovich starred in the Oscar-nominated films The Changeling and Burn After Reading. He has twice been nominated, the most recent being in 1994 for In The Line Of Fire.
