Genghis Khan Biopic Coming

Will this be RZA's (of Wu-Tang Clan fame) directorial debut?

That’s right, folks.  RZA (The Man With the Iron Fists) is adding to his filmmaking resume with two new titles in the works, including a Genghis Khan biopic and an action thriller entitled No Man’s Land.  Both films are expected to be released next year, 2013.

For those of you who aren’t history buffs, Genghis Khan was emperor of the vast Mongol Empire for over 20 years back in the 1200s.  He conquered most of Eurasia during that time.   His story is one that deserves the Hollywood treatment and has many aspects that could create an awesome legend on film.

The film potentially could make or break RZA’s directing career.  It will be written by John Milius (Conan The Barbarian, Apocalypse Now).  I’m hoping that RZA leans towards a more realistic biography with Genghis Khan, as opposed to a mythical one; many facts about Genghis Khan are unknown due to the lack of written records.

Little is known about RZA’s other venture, No Man’s Land.  We know that Trey Ellis and David Klass have written the script. The basic storyline is a man steals a diamond which has more value than he originally thought and tries to sell the diamond with the help of a dancer, who is rumored to be played by Sharni Vinson (you may know this smoking hot actress from Blue Crush 2 or Step Up 3D).  This film also sounds like it has potential.
