Deadpool 2 DVD/Blu-ray Release Date, Bonus Features, and Extended Cut

Deadpool 2 is headed for a "Super Duper Cut" extended home release that's likely packed with more profanity.

Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut is officially a thing… and it’s coming a lot sooner than you might have thought.

Eyebrows were undoubtedly raised upon the recent news that Deadpool 2 – released at theaters on May 18 – was still bound for Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 21. However, the two-month-old film won’t use its time to reminisce on the laughs, since the occasion will see 20th Century Fox hold a panel attended by “Deadpool and pals” (likely meaning that Ryan Reynolds is a lock), culminating with the 10 p.m. premiere screening of an extended version of Deadpool 2 in the “Super Duper Cut.”

Interestingly, the non-con-attending rest of the country won’t have to wait too long after the preview screening to catch the Deadpool 2 extended cut. That’s because – in a surprisingly quick turnover – Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut has been confirmed for a Digital release on August 7, followed by physical releases (which also include the theatrical cut,) on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on August 21. – That’s about three months after the film hit theaters, where it has currently tallied about $727 million worldwide.

While nothing was confirmed about the release’s extended scenes, co-writer Rhett Reese also describes Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut as “significantly different… and fun!”

Indeed, it will be interesting to see what a “longer, actionier, spandexier” version of the hit sequel by director David Leitch could ultimately manifest. Will most of the scenes featuring Jack Kesy’s Black Tom get rescued from the cutting room floor? Will the Juggernaut get more screen time? Will we get to see more of Deadpool saying “hi” to Yukio? Inquiring minds want to know!
