George Washington, the first president of the United States, had wooden teeth, much to the chagrin of latter-day Martha. Channing Tatum is known for an entirely different feature of physique. The star of Magic Mike will play Washington in Netflix’s first animated film, America: The Motion Picture.
Written by Dave Callaham (Godzilla) and directed by Archer’s Matt Thompson, America: The Motion Picture is described as an “R-rated revisionist history tale about the founding of the country.”
This isn’t the first time Tatum has lent his voice to animation. He played himself on The Simpsons, Superman in The LEGO Movie, and revived his Magic Mike character in the video game Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff.
Besides the two Magic Mike movies, Tatum was featured in 21 Jump Street in 2012, The Hateful Eight in 2015, and Hail Caesar in 2016. Tatum will next appear in Kingsman: The Golden Circle and the heist movie Logan Lucky.
America: The Motion Picture will be produced by Thompson and his Archer partner David Reed. Tatum is also producing alongside his Free Association partners Peter Kiernan and Reid Carolin, and The LEGO Movie‘s Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Will Allegra.
