Batman & Robin: Alicia Silverstone Looks Back at Batgirl

Alicia Silverstone says "I feel like I could do a much better Batgirl than I did then"...

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul has changed the cast from the three movies to date, and amongst the new recruits is Alicia Silverstone. She’s playing Greg’s mum, Susan Heffley in the new film. And whilst doing press for the movie, she was asked about her time as Batgirl in Joel Schumacher’s ill-fated Batman & Robin movie, back in 1997.

She was 21 when she played the role, and in an interview with USA Today, she said that “I feel like I could do a much better Batgirl than I did then. It would be fun to tackle it again, because I’m older and my acting is better. I know I would bring so much more to it.”

She mused that she was too inexperienced when she took the part on, saying “I was just a baby. It was a different thing back then. And I think it would be fun to do it again.”

She did add that she would change the Batgirl costume, though, going for “something you can sit it. Something you can get out to pee”.

Joss Whedon is currently putting together a brand new Batgirl feature for Warner Bros and DC, and Silverstone was asked if she’d be interested in taking a role in that film, perhaps a cameo. “I’m open to anything,” she said. “Whatever people bring to me and whatever the best choice is at the time.”
