Mild spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War lie ahead
Without going full-on spoiler-y here, the ending of Avengers: Infinity War clearly left things set up for next year’s Avengers 4. Its cliffhanger ending (which we explained in detail right here) has set the scene for a further massive box office hit in just under twelve months’ time.
Marvel Studios is understandably playing things close to its proverbial chest where the next film is concerned, but a first synopsis has nonetheless popped up in the new issue of Licensing Magazine (as spotted on Twitter).
It reportedly reads as follows…
A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.
It reads like a fairly straightforward holding synopsis in truth, save for the part about sacrifices and “turning point.” There’s speculation that the new film will mark the end of the road for several Avengers, after all. Then there’s the issue about “how fragile this reality is” which seems to add some weight to the idea that there will be a time travel or dimension hopping element to the movie, something we’ve considered in more detail already right here.
Avengers 4 opens on May 3, 2019. The full schedule of Marvel movies can be found here.
