Avatar Sequels Will Become a Family Affair

The scripts for James Cameron's four Avatar sequels are complete, and Sam Worthington is revealing details.

Finally, after many years of development work, of writing, and of adding further sequels to his to-do list, James Cameron is going to start capturing footage for his Avatar sequels this summer.

In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Cameron confirmed his plan to make Avatar 2, Avatar 3, Avatar 4, and Avatar 5 alongside each other. “My focus isn’t on Avatar 2. My focus is on Avatar 2, 3, 4, and equally. That’s exactly how I’m approaching it. They’ve all been developed equally,” he said.

While speaking with We Got This Covered, Worthington revealed that the plan is still to begin production at the end of this summer, and that while Cameron is still perfecting the scripts, that he’s read them and considers them great.

Additionally, Worthington said, “This is going to be Jake eight years later, and he’s got a family now. This film is going to be like nothing you’ve ever seen. The world is bigger than the first one, but essentially it’s a movie about family. Jake will still have that essence of a kid seeing the world for the first time, but he’s been living in the world for a while now, so what’s this world he’s seeing now for the first time? The film will explore that within the family dynamic.”
