Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell movies coming

Work begins on bringing a trio of UbiSoft videogames to the big screen. And the plan is for all three to be in 3D, too…

The world of cinema has not yet heard of UbiSoft Motion Pictures, but the movie-making subsidiary of the videogame maker, UbiSoft, is certainly planning to be busy in the next few years.

According to Variety, UbiSoft has revealed plans for a series of 3D feature films based around its top properties. And that specifically means that we’re going to be getting film versions of Assassin’s Creed, of Splinter Cell, and of Ghost Recon.

Each of the films is in the very early stages of work at the moment, which is understandable, given that UbiSoft only set up its film division a couple of weeks back. But it’s planning to shop the films around Hollywood studios over the next month or two, with the aim of keeping control over the content of the movies. Thus, the firm is getting involved with budgeting and script work.

The plans are to have its first script in place by the end of the year, and we suspect that it’ll be the Assassin’s Creed project that moves the quickest.

The firm is also working on a CG animated series of Raving Rabbids, too, incidentally.
