Telltale revealed the first trailer for their adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy late last year.
“The energizing blend of humor, emotion, teamwork, and full-on sci-fi action-adventure of the Guardians provides an enormously satisfying space to explore through Telltale’s unique style of interactive storytelling,” Telltale Games Co-Founder and CEO Kevin Bruner said during the game’s reveal at The Game Awards.
Bruner also revealed that “players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe.”

Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy Story
Here’s the synopsis from GameStop:
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series delivers a brand new story of the universe’s unlikeliest heroes, the rag-tag band of outlaws who go by the names Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands.
From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience.
Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy Cast
Ahead of their PAX East showcase, developer Telltale has revealed the principal voice cast for their Guardians of the Galaxy adaptation.
Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights) will be taking on the role of Star-Lord while Emily O’Brien (Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor) will be providing the voice for Telltale’s version of Gamora. Elsewhere, Brandon Paul Eells (Watch Dogs) will be voicing Drax while Adam Harrington (The Wolf Among Us) tackles the thematically challenging character known as Groot. Finally, the always welcome Nolan North (pretty much every video game ever made since the dawn of video game voice acting) will be playing Rocket.
Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy Details
Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann spoke briefly about Guardians of the Galaxy‘s story at DICE 2017 (via IGN), saying that the game will focus on exploring character relationships.
“We are really taking it seriously and focusing on each character,” Rosemann said during his DICE presentation, “World Building the Marvel Way.” He explained that the game will explore questions about the characters, such as “Who are they? What do they want? How are they a family? What could tear that family apart?”
It looks like Telltale will use a similar approach to past comic book-inspired games, such as Batman: The Telltale Series, which focus on characters over action sequences. Does this mean Telltale will put us inside Rocket Raccoon’s head in the game? We sure hope so.
