New Xbox Preview Program is Available to All

Xbox Insider will allow all users to try out select upcoming features.

Microsoft is re-tweaking, and re-branding, the Xbox Preview Program.

The program, now called Xbox Insider Program, previously allowed gamers to access certain upcoming Xbox One features in order to field test them early. That part will not change. What is changing is how invites will work. Whereas only a select number of invited Xbox One users were previously able to participate in the testing before, now, the Xbox Insider Program will be open to all.

As part of the opt-in process, Xbox One owners will need to download the new Xbox Insider Hub. This hub serves as a retooled version of the Xbox Preview Dashboard, but will still allow users to see which new features are available for testing as well as provided a unified place to submit feedback. Additionally, Microsoft claims that the new hub will feature more personalized announcements and updates based on your previous activity.

This update is being made available today to a few users that have “provided the most feedback since the inception of the Xbox Preview Program.” If you are one of those users, the update should appear automatically so long as your Xbox One is on Instant-on mode and the Xbox Preview Dashboard is already installed. Everyone else should see the change occur sometime in the next few weeks.

Please note that Xbox system version updates will remain available only to previously registered members as Microsoft claims that they already have a “huge number of volunteers already doing a great job testing and providing feedback” in regards to those particular updates.
