Ghostbusters Planet Coaster

When there’s something strange in your theme park, who you gonna call? Okay, you don’t need to answer that. It’s blindingly obvious that you’d only have one¬†organization on speed dial for such spooky spectral situations, regardless of the host venue – it’s clearly the Ghostbusters, isn’t it?

If you’ve dreamed of seeing those overalls-wearing paranormal investigators doing their thing in a theme park, the team at Frontier Developments have just the crossover for you: their next big DLC for the Planet Coaster PC game will be a big Ghostbusters event, complete with the voices of Dan Aykroyd as Raymond Stantz, who will mentor you through the new Ghostbusters content, and William Atherton as Walter Peck, who’ll be on villainous duty once more.

The official announcement on the Planet Coaster website tells us this: “Featuring an all new story-driven scenario, novel gameplay mechanics, plus original rides, characters, and scenery straight from the 1984 classic movie, this new Planet Coaster content pack provides everything players need to create the most authentic Ghostbusters entertainment park seen in a game.”

On top of the appearances from Aykroyd and Atherton, the website tells us that “a host of other fan-favorite ghosts and characters will also make appearances as the story progresses, including Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and even the legendary ECTO-1 car.”

There will also be an interactive ride, The Ghostbusters Experience, which “will allow players to engage in a whole new way as they take on the role of a Ghostbuster to bust ghosts with their particle throwers and log their high score.” There will be a Slimer-themed ride that’s more kid-friendly, as well.

The Planet Coaster / Ghostbusters crossover is “coming soon” to Steam and the Frontier Store. We’ll let you know the release date when we hear it.
