Gears 5 Horde Mode Features Halo Crossover Characters

Two characters from Halo: Reach will be featured in Gears 5's upcoming Horde mode.

Gears 5 Halo DLC

Gears 5 will feature a long overdue crossover with Halo as two characters from Halo: Reach are set to appear in the game’s upcoming horde mode.

As revealed at Gamescom 2019, Noble Team Spartans Emile-A239 and Kat-B320 will be playable in Gears 5‘s horde mode. Based on what we know about the game’s upcoming horde mode, it sounds like these two Halo characters should have their own ultimates as well. However, the finer points of what they bring to the game haven’t been confirmed.

This cross-over will also add some Halo-themed cosmetics to Gears 5 that include a Noble-themed character skin for Jack. The only way to get all of this Halo goodness is to either purchase the Gears 5 Ultimate Edition or download the game through Xbox’s Game Pass Ultimate plan. Other versions of the upcoming game will not feature the Halo content.

Granted, this isn’t exactly the most exciting bit of corporate synergy that we’ve ever seen, but you’ve got to admit that it’s about time we got some kind of Gears and Halo crossover. Now, if we could only get a Double Dragon/Battletoads style beat-em-up or top-down arcade shooter featuring characters from both franchises.

In any case, this is certainly a little treat for Halo fans who just this week learned that Halo Infinite‘s creative director has walked away from the project. It sounds like his departure may be due to personal reasons, but the mystery surrounding that project has people wondering whether or not there are behind the scenes problems which may impact the quality of what is arguably Microsoft’s biggest upcoming exclusive

As for Gears 5, it’s still set to be released on September 10 for Xbox One and PC
