WWE Money in the Bank 2017: Results and Matches

Various wrestlers fought it out to climb the ladder to an automatic title shot. We have the winners.

It’s a new world for SmackDown now that Jinder Mahal is WWE Champion. Backlash is off the agenda and we move on to WWE Money in the Bank 2017. Originally, Money in the Bank was just an annual showcase at WrestleMania, but back in 2010 it spun off into its own annual show. A new #1 contender will be crowned, casting a shadow on whoever holds the title for up to a year.

WWE MONEY IN THE BANK 2017 RESULTS

THE HYPE BROS VS. THE COLONS

Results: After Ryder hot-tagged Mojo, Mojo took the Colons apart and nearly had it won himself. Once the numbers started to kick in, Ryder returned and helped even the odds until they finished them off with the Hype Ryder. An exhausted Ryder celebrated while Mojo ran across the ropes in excitement.

TAMINA VS. NATALYA VS. CHARLOTTE VS. CARMELLA VS. BECKY LYNCH

Money in the Bank

Results: Becky Lynch seemed to have it won, but James Ellsworth flipped the ladder over. He tried to wake up Carmella, but she was too out of it. Instead, he climbed up the ladder unopposed, removed the briefcase, dropped it into Carmella’s hands and the bell rang. The referees argued over the legality of what just happened, but Ellsworth grabbed the mic and claimed that Carmella won. The theme music played and they kind of just went with it while the other women looked furious.

THE USOS (C) VS. THE NEW DAY

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Results: Lots and lots of close calls from both sides, but once the New Day hit the Midnight Hour on one Uso, the other broke up the pin. The two staggered away, grabbed their championship belts, and let the ref count them out. New Day won, but only by count-out.

NAOMI (C) VS. LANA

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

Results: Naomi blew out her knee, which allowed Lana to hang in there. She seemed to have things in hand until Carmella and James Ellsworth walked out with the Money in the Bank briefcase. Carmella told a hesitant Lana to continue. Lana reluctantly went for the pin, but Naomi kicked out, made a comeback, and made Lana tap out to a submission hold similar to the Rings of Saturn. Carmella decided not to cash in and Lana was left looking heartbroken over her loss.

A backstage promo of Fashion Vice appeared, showing Breezango as 80s cops trying to solve the mystery of who trashed their office. A video tape was delivered, showing two figures in shadow with distorted voices. They said that they would reveal themselves in the ring later tonight.

A bunch of hearts appeared on the entrance way. This led to Mike [Bennett] and Maria Kanellis walking out to cut a heel promo about how Maria is back and has found the perfect romantic partner.

JINDER MAHAL (C) VS. RANDY ORTON

WWE Championship

Results: Orton knocked out Jinder with an RKO. The Singh Brothers were caught putting Jinder’s foot on the rope and begged for disqualification. Instead, the ref told them to head to the back. They instead proceeded to jeer some legends at ringside, including Bob Orton Jr., until Orton grabbed the brothers and started outright destroying them around ringside. He even RKO’d one through a table. He walked back into the ring, got kicked in the knee, and Jinder quickly finished Orton off with a Cobra Clutch Slam.

BREEZANGO VS. THE ASCENSION

Results: The Ascension walked out with zero explanation about being the culprits. They just simply had a match with Fandango rolling up Viktor for the pin.

DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. SAMI ZAYN VS. KEVIN OWENS VS. AJ STYLES VS. SHINSUKE NAKAMURA VS. BARON CORBIN

Money in the Bank

Results: During Nakamura’s entrance, Corbin attacked him from behind and laid him out. Later on, it appeared like Corbin had it all won, but as he climbed the ladder, Nakamura’s theme music started playing again. Nakamura dealt with Corbin and virtually everyone else until it was just Nakamura and AJ Styles. The two fought it out on top of the ladder, but Corbin shoved it over, set the ladder back up, and climbed up unopposed. Baron Corbin is Mr. Money in the Bank.
