Micheal B. Jordan to Adopt Inclusion Rider For His Production Company’s Projects

The Black Panther star will demand 50 percent diversity on set for Outlier Society projects.

After Frances McDormand’s impassioned Oscar acceptance speech, “inclusion rider” became the term du jour on Twitter and in Google searches. As many who looked into the term learned, an inclusion rider is a clause that allows actors to contractually demand 50 percent diversity on set. Backstage, McDormand said, “The whole idea of women not trending, African Americans not trending; it changes now and the inclusion rider has something to do with that.”

The first person leading the charge happens to be one of Hollywood’s current most popular and in-demand actors, Michael B. Jordan. The Black Panther star has made a promise on his Instagram page that he will include inclusion riders for all projects made by his production company.

“In support of the women & men who are leading this fight, I will be adopting the Inclusion Rider for all projects produced by my company Outlier Society,” he wrote. “I’ve been privileged to work with powerful woman & persons of color throughout my career & it’s Outlier’s mission to continue to create for talented individuals going forward.”

With one of the biggest actors on the planet adopting inclusion riders, who will be the next star to demand more diversity in the entertainment industry?
