Have you ever wanted to hang out in the worlds of The Hunger Games, Divergent, or Mad Men? Yeah, me either, but that hasn’t stopped Lionsgate from announcing the second of its planned entertainment centers that will give fans of its franchises the change to explore these fictionalized worlds.
Deadline just announced news of the Lionsgate Entertainment City, to be housed at the Estación Príncipe Pío in Madrid in partnership with Parques Reunidos. According to the announcement, the entertainment center will allows guests to explore the world of The Hunger Games(and it’s harshly disparate wealth?), become a member of The Divergent Series‘ Dauntless group (which, let’s remember, involved beating your fellow pledges up), and pretend to be Don Draper in a Mad Men-inspired restaurant and lounge. That last one sounds the most relaxing, but also just sounds like checking out a vintage-inspired bar.
I don’t mean to be such a Debbie Downer on this proposal, I would totally give these experiences a chance if they were presented to me, it’s just kind of an eccentric selection of fictional worlds, you know? Some of the stuff actually sounds pretty fun, like the challenge course and climbing wall; a state-of-the-art motion simulator, 4D theater; and location-based VR experiences.
The Lionsgate Entertainment City is set to open in Madrid in early 2020, a year after a similar Lionsgate-branded indoor attraction, the Times Square Entertainment City, is set to open in NYC.
Meanwhile, still no updates on wrapping up that Divergent series…
