DC TV is coming to Washington, D.C. for a two-day event called “DC in D.C.” that will introduce the world to the Black Lightning TV show.
Slated to take place during Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, the event will include the world premiere of Black Lightning, as well as the premiere of the DC Universe animated movie Batman: Gotham By Gaslight
The pop culture event will bring together the stars and producers of Black Lightning for the show’s world premiere, along with Legend of Tomorrow‘s Caity Lotz, The Flash‘s Candice Patton, The Flash‘s Danielle Panabaker, Gotham‘s J.W. Cortes, The Ray‘s Russell Tovey, and DC TV creators Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schecter. Other guests are yet to be announced.
Attending from the Black Lightning cast and creative team are: Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Christine Adams, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III, Damon Gupton and James Remar, and executive producers Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil.
In addition to the guests from the entertainment world, “DC in D.C.” will also include guests from the world of government, business, and academia. Comic book writers and artists will also be in attendance, including: Jim Lee, Julie Benson, Shawna Benson, Shea Fontana, Agnes Garbowska, Tom King, Steve Orlando, Alice Randall, John Ridley, Mark Russell, Mariko Tamaki and Geoff Johns. The two-day event will include panel discussions on the world of comic book entertainment.
In addition to the world premiere of Black Lightning, which will be taking place at the Warner Bros. Theater at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, DC Entertainment will also be screening DC Universe animated movie Batman: Gotham By Gaslight at the Newseum. The Black Lightning premiere will be followed by a party to follow at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
