Katee Sackhoff Not Playing Captain Marvel, Unfortunately

Katee Sackhoff isn't currently involved in a Marvel movie, but at least she's open to the idea...

Katee Sackhoff

It’s not often that you get a piece of dream-casting that sets the internet on fire the way that the whole Katee Sackhoff as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel shared wish has. It’s such a perfect combination that otherwise objective writer types (possibly including this one) have been trying to will this into existence over the last year. And since we hear continuous rumblings from reliable individuals that Carol Danvers makes some kind of appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, well, it just adds fuel to the fire.

The problem is…it’s not happening.

After teasing fans with a “super secret project” on Twitter, which included a tweet like this which totally looks like it could be part of a superhero costume…

…she then broke everyone’s hearts with this.

But WOULD she do it? Sure! She told Nerdcore Movement that ““Ms. Marvel’s interesting. I’ve always been more attracted to the villains so even when I play a hero, I try to make them a bit more of an emotional anti-hero,” Ms. Sackhoff said. “I think I could have fun with it, absolutely.” And she’s certainly interested in doing a superhero film, but right now, it doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing her in the red-and-blue for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Go read the rest of their chat with her.

There are two major things that need to happen sooner rather than later. Hollywood needs to produce a superhero movie with a female headliner (Sony claim they’re going to beat everyone to the punch with this, but they claim a lot of things regarding their Spider-Man franchise these days), and Katee Sackhoff really should get a chance to make the internet’s dreams come true. It’s tough to think of a more perfect match than Carol Danvers, though.

Big hat-tip to The Mary Sue for showing this to us.
