Harley Quinn Will Take Over Batman Day This Year

In honor of her 25th anniversary, Harley Quinn is going to take over Batman Day this year. Possibly by force.

Batman Day comes but once a year. In this case, it comes on September 23, 2017. The annual celebration of Batman seems pretty unnecessary, doesn’t it? After all, DC Entertainment pretty much celebrates ol’ pointy ears every single day of the year, whether you want them to or not. He’s as inescapable as the impossibly embarrassing nightmare currently occupying the Oval Office.

But this year, it turns out that another member of the extended Bat-family is going to steal Bruce’s thunder. This year’s Batman Day is going to be taken over by Harley Quinn. Why? Well, why the hell not? It’s her 25th anniversary, and she’ll annoy Batman if she wants to.

The news was accidentally revealed to a group of journalists at DC’s SDCC press breakfast, but we were sworn to secrecy under pain of getting whacked over the head with an oversized hammer if we broke the news before the Harley Quinn 25th Anniverary panel at SDCC. The only thing we want to do less than piss off Harley (or her boyfriend) is get DC Editorial after us.

When Harley Day was finally announced at the Harley Quinn 25th Anniversary panel, we learned that DC will give out a free comic through retailers. The comic will see Harley interrupt a Batman story and take over.

“We love the idea of putting Batman in his place!” said Harley Quinn writer Jimmy Palmiotti during the panel.

“Every day should be Harley Day!” said voice actress Tara Strong in her Harley Quinn voice.
