Deadpool: No Director’s Cut in the Cards

The DVD and Blu-ray of Deadpool may have deleted scenes, but director Tim Miller says there's no full director's cut coming.

Here’s a rumor to scratch off the list: there’s no extended director’s cut of Deadpool heading our way. There had been talk that there was a longer, more expletive-packed version of the film that might arrive on DVD and Blu-ray, yet director Tim Miller has ruled that out.

Talking to Collider, he said, “I don’t want to be all Joss Whedon on you, but no, there’s not [a director’s cut on the way].”

He added, “There are some deleted scenes that have some extra stuff, but I’m pretty happy with this cut. I like it.”

Miller also added that producer Simon Kinberg had “strongly suggested” he take one or two things out. “There’s some stuff on the DVD extras, I had a little more workshop fight in there that I liked — that’s the beat that we were talking about,” Miller explained with a laugh. “[Simon’s] like, ‘Tim, it’s violent enough, please.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh no, but man when he stomps on his face it’s awesome,’ and Simon’s like, ‘No, we’ve got enough.”

That said, there doesn’t seem to be discord behind the scenes on this one. Good job, too. There’s the small matter of Deadpool 2 to go and make now…
