The world of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV series is going to become even more recognizable to comic fans during the final episodes of season 1. In the wake of the announcement that Deathlok will return and an episode featuring Lady Sif from the Thor films, now Adrian Pasdar (Heroes, Avenges Assemble) is joining the party as Colonel Glenn Talbot. Hulk fans may recognize Talbot’s name as General “Thunderbolt” Ross’ partner in Hulkbusting. Colonel Talbot has been making the Hulk’s life miserable since his first appearance way back in 1964.
While no details about which episode Colonel Talbot will be appearing in have surfaced yet, in an interview with Marvel.com, Pasdar was candid about how he prepared for the role. “I read the character description and I thought, ‘Oh man. Here it is again. The sanctimonious [jerk]. That’s what they’re coming to me for.’ [laughs] His way’s the only way!” He even described a trip to one of New York City’s Midtown Comics locations. “I did my research…So we went in there and in no time at all, I had no shortage of guys helping me out finding everything I could about Talbot…I just wanted to dig deep into the comics where it came from.”
Pasdar is familiar to Marvel fans as the voice of Iron Man on Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man. With two episodes so far this season relying heavily on Asgardian lore from the Thor films, a likely connection with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, an ongoing alien subplot that may have ties to Guardians of the Galaxy, and Tony Stark’s name occasionally getting dropped, the Hulk is one of the last pieces of the Marvel Cinematic puzzle still missing from the show’s lexicon.
Chloe Bennet (Agent Skye) recently teased a big name guest star in an interview with Zap2It. “Our fans particularly will like a certain guest star that is coming up soon,” she promised. While much of that interview was spent shoring up the connections between Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Agents of SHIELD, leading most of us to believe that the guest star is Chris “Captain America” Evans…could Pasdar’s presence as a Hulk villain indicate that maybe it’s Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner who might show up on an episode before this season wraps?
