New X-Files movie: is love in the air?

Could there be a love story brewing in the world of The X-Files?

As the build up to the film's release continues, titbits have been filtering through about what we can expect. And while the plot remains a closely guarded secret, some light is beginning to be shined.

According to an interview given with the American TV Guide publication, the new X-Files movie, X-Files: I Want To Believe, is a bit of a love story.

The interview was given by producer and co-writer Frank Spotnitz, and he revealed in his discussion that "The emotional story of Mulder and Scully is really the heart of the movie… it’s about their love story”. David Duchovny also went on to say that “There’s definitely some skin in this movie and not all of it is being flayed or ripped apart. There’s some Gillian skin, and some of mine”.

All that Californication must have got to him…

The X-Files: I Want To Believe is released on 1st August 2008.
