True Detective may well have found its villain in the shape of Vince Vaughn.

How do you go about replacing Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson? With difficulty. Since the second season of True Detective was announced, just who will play the new central investigators has been a big question mark hanging over the show.

While that question remains unanswered, we now have a good idea who the antagonist of the piece will be.

Villainous henchmen will be learning to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge, because Vince Vaughn has now been very strongly linked to the big baddie role by pretty much every source going.

Writer/creator Nic Pizzolatto has hinted previously that we will now have three central detectives (two male, one female) and that the second season will up sticks from Louisiana to California.

Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch have been linked to the detective roles, but no announcements have been made. We’ll be sure to pass them on as they come through.

Whoever they end up being, they’ll be hoping that even though Vaughn can dodge a wrench, he can’t dodge the unrelenting course of the American justice system. We'll stop with the Dodgeball gags now though.
