UPDATED: Jessica Chastain for True Detective season 2?
According to rumours, Jessica Chastain has been offered the co-lead in True Detective's second season...
UPDATE: It appears that HBO and Jessica Chastain's "people" have denied that any such negotiations have taken place, bursting our bubble. Must remember to put salt on the shopping list...
Appreciating the need to take this, like all online rumours, with an entire shaker of salt, word has it that Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, just about everything else that came out in 2011) has been offered the co-lead in True Detective season two.
The drama, written by Nic Pizzolatto and directed by Cary Fukunaga, is planned as an anthology series, with a fresh cast and fresh story for each eight-episode run. That means season two's leads have to live up to the memorable pairing of Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, a fact not lost on fans of internet memes, who've been making their own creative suggestions since the second run was announced.
It's believed that Pizzolatto is writing for two female leads this time around, and Chastain's acceptance of one of them would be an indubitable coup for the show. We'll keep you posted as things develop.
