Eliza Dushku joins The Saint remake

Roger Moore is to co-produce a pilot for The Saint remake, starring Hunted's Adam Rayner, and Dollhouse's Eliza Dushku...

The last two months alone have been witness to plans for new versions of Jumanji, Police Academy, The Brady Bunch, Short Circuit, Video-flipping-drome... And now, The Saint (do do-loo do doo-looo), the Roger Moore-starring sixties show based on the novels of Leslie Charteris is the latest to be dusted off and given a shiny new iteration.

A pilot is in the works for a revamped version of the Simon Templar stories (no doubt because the nineties Val Kilmer version was so well-received...), starring Hunted's Adam Rayner in the title role, with Eliza Dushku providing love interest and we assume, running and fighting support, as Patricia Holm.

The pilot's screenplay is coming from Heroes and Alias writer, Jesse Alexander, while The Expendables 2 and The Mechanic's Simon West will be calling the shots. Here's a little reminder of the original to jog your memory...

I always prefer the funky 70's beat to the theme for 'Return of the Saint' but the original series was so much better.

Sam West or Simon West? =/

Simon Templar isn't a spy,he's more a playboy/troubleshooter/mercenary.He's as popular with the police as he is with crooks because as far as The Saint is concerned the end often justifys the means.

Simon Templar is also a thief. I think this movie is only complete with a Roger Moore apperance!

Maybe Roger Moore as villain?

It's going to be difficult seeing someone else in the role other than Roger Moore but at least Adam Rayner is English. Hopefully they don't americanize it too much.

The Saint steals from thieves.
