Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton have been commissioned to write a new comedy series for BBC Two...

Here's a piece of good news by anyone's standards: The League of Gentlemen and Psychoville creators and stars, Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, are writing a new comedy for BBC Two.

Provisionally titled Inside No.9, the six-part series will comprise standalone stories, each of which takes place in a different residence linked by the common street number. Gemma Arterton, Tamsin Grieg, Katherine Parkinson, Anna Chancellor, and Timothy West have all been announced as appearing, and the series is due to air in late 2013.

It won't come as a surprise for those familiar with Shearsmith and Pemberton's past work that the BBC has described the new comedy as "six dark little tales", "where the ordinary and mundane rub shoulders with the extraordinary and macabre". Sounds grand, that. Where do we sign?
