The Inbetweeners US remake: first cast pic
A first look at the US versions of The Inbetweeners’ Will, Simon, Jay and Neil has arrived…
MTV’s US remake of Channel 4 comedy series The Inbetweeners debuts in the states this August, and to whet the American audience's appetite, a first cast picture has now arrived online. As you can see, it shows the US versions of Simon (Bubba Lewis), Will (Joey Pollari), Neil (Mark L Young) and Jay (Zack Pearlman) complete with traditional car door and briefcase accessories.
So, first impressions then. What do we all make of tall, dark, and handsome Will, gurning podgy Jay and a Neil that seems to be channelling his namesake from The Young Ones?
We took a closer look at the prospects of MTV's The Inbetweeners and a number of other UK-to-US telly remakes here, for anyone who fancies finding out more about what's coming up over the next few months.

Cancelled and no second season is definite. Seriously, wtf?! The Inbetweeners only works because it's english and the english humour involved. MTV are cunts.

This really doesn't look right. I'll give it a go, but I've got a feeling this'll turn out just like the US pilot for the IT Crowd: a word-for-word copy of the UK pilot with a few of the niche jokes being broadened and Americanised to take away any humour. Excellent.
I fail to see the necessity for remaking programs the other side of the pond. Surely if the program is already made and all you have to do is license it to your channel, then surely that would be cheaper than starting from scratch? If a program is good then its good, there seems to be little differential in taste between people if a show is proven to be entertaining already. I can't imagine them remaking the Sopranos, for example, this side of the Atlantic.

I assume that's how the first series will go. That path often leads to cancellation, but every now and then it leads to new scripts and future seasons, so it can work.
Right.....so not only did the US rip off Life on Mars, and did a horrible job of it i might add, they are now ripping off the inbetweeners......thank you, another one of our TV shows to ruin! just stick to making big blockbuster movies like the Avengers.....it what the US is good at!
I'm told it has to do with syndication. The US networks can make more $$ if they buy the rights, remake it themselves (with a higher number of episodes) and sell it to lots of other TV stations...
The good news is a lot of their remakes don't succeed (for instance Life on Mars, The Prisoner and Skins)...
Problem with US TV remakes is that Channel 4 are "edgy" to use that horrible word, while Americans are conservative, on the whole. The first episode has Neil naked, and can you imagine Americans portraying the "wardrobe malfunction" on the catwalk? They freaked over a stray boob (Janet Jackson??)

Oh my god :/ I don't think American humor is actually good, I genuinely think British TV shows are funnier. Look at South Park, this biggest load of sh*t I've ever watched, not funny at all. Also they ruined the Office with Ricky Gervais with an American Re-make which failed. Without Ricky is was just not funny. And without the characters from the UK series it is just not going to be funny, and will not work. Could you imagine some of the stuff they come out with, with an American accent? :s
