The Tomorrow People's Robbie Amell joins The Flash

Robbie Amell is to play STAR Labs worker Ronnie Raymond in Arrow spin-off, The Flash...

Now that The Tomorrow People remake is dead and buried, The Flash has filled the gap in Robbie Amell's schedule.

Amell (yup, the cousin of Arrow lead Stephen) has joined The Flash in a recurring role as Ronnie Raymond, an employee at STAR Labs "who plays an integral part in the particle accelerator incident that transforms Barry Allen into The Flash".

If you don't want to know more about Amell's character, look away now, because the name Ronnie Raymond will have rung a bell for DC comic book readers.

Raymond is of course one half of the two characters eventually fused together to create Firestorm, a kind of superhero version of the Steve Martin classic All Of Me, if you like.

Melded with Nobel prize-winning scientist Martin Stein in another lab accident (we don't envy STAR's insurance bill), Ronnie Raymond was left with Stein in permanent residence inside his body, acting as the duo's conscience. We await news of who will be cast in the role of Stein...

The Flash starts on The CW on the 7th of October at 8pm. Read more about the show on Den Of Geek, here.

Eh, if he is also a STAR Labs employee, we can assume that they almost exclusively employ handsome, twentysomething scientists. Feels a bit weird, to be honest.

I doubt the show will get to Firestorm in its first season. It needs to establish Flash / Barry as characters first, and bringing in too many other heroes early on diminishes that.
