A familiar face will be making a cameo appearance in a February episode of Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

No, it won't be Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth or the like appearing in a February episode of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the daddy of US comic book writers: Stan Lee.

It's something of a tradition for Lee to appear in Marvel and DC TV and film outings, usually as himself, often amongst a crowd. The Simpsons and The Big Bang Theory have also memorably welcomed appearances from the comic book writer in recent years (though we think we can all agree that he'll be best remembered for his work on a 1989 episode of Muppet Babies).

It's not yet known who Lee will be playing in the February the 4th episode, though he has reportedly described it as "a big one". Here's a snap of him with writer/producer Maurissa Tancharoen, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg.

Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. returned to ABC in the US last night with The Magical Place. Its return date on Channel 4 in the UK remains to be confirmed.

I thought it was January the 10th? This Friday? Or has that now changed

its the 10th for the uk but it was the 7th for the usa

Remains to be confirmed?! What?! Or am I the only person still watching it...?

Not sure I've ever seen Stan the Man in any DC outings but I could be wrong. Don't think it would make much sense, though.

That's cool. I'm still watching the show in hopes that it will get better (it has been... slowly), but regardless, it'll be fun to see Stan in there.

Why would the Co-creator of the marvel universe appear in anything DC. Who even writes this website?

A girl wrote this... *wink*

Nonsense. Stan Lee has never appeared in a DCU based film or TV series.

In the UK the show will continue to air on Channel 4 in... have a seat... March. This so they can air the remaining episodes of season 1 in one burst over 12 weeks.
