SAMCRO is returning to FX on Tuesday the 10th of September with a ninety-minute special...

The only thing better than a brand new episode of Sons of Anarchy is, you guessed it, two brand new episodes of Sons of Anarchy, and that's precisely what FX is giving US viewers on Tuesday the 10th of September at 10pm. A ninety-minute special will open the show's sixth season, which promises yet more style, adrenaline, and not a small amount of violence.

Season five was Sons of Anarchy's best performing year yet, averaging 6.4 million weekly visitors to Charming, California. The question of whether season six will be the final outing for Jax, Clay and co. remains, following these words from show creator Kurt Sutter at last weekend's SDCC.

Here's a spoiler-filled precis of the situation at the beginning of the new season. Anyone not up to date with the fifth run, look away now:

"Having framed Clay for the murder of Damon Pope, Season Six begins with Jax’s leadership uncontested, but his family life suffering from his single-minded pursuit of John Teller’s vision. Jax must find a way to keep Tara from going to prison for conspiracy to commit murder while rebuilding his club and breaking from the cycle of violence and greed that ultimately led to his best friend’s death."
