FX turned it down, but Sony's PSN has picked up 10 episodes of new comic adaptation, Powers...

Sony's Playstation Network is following in Netflix's footsteps by getting in on original programming. With Microsoft currently doing the same for Xbox Live, the development is an unsurprising one.

Amongst PSN first projects is to be Powers, a new ten-part series adapted from the Brian Michael Bendis comics of the same name. Sony originally produced an hour-long Powers pilot for FX, which wasn't picked up by the network. The project has now found its feet on home ground.

Bendis' comics, co-created with artist Michael Avon Oeming, detail the story of two homicide detectives assigned to investigate cases involving super abilities. The combination of superpowers and procedural elements has been a winning one for many. More news as it arrives.
