Penny Dreadful renewed for season 2

Showtime and Sky Atlantic's beautiful, chilling Penny Dreadful will return for a second season...

Calling it "one of the easiest decisions [he's] ever made", Showtime president David Nevins has renewed horror drama Penny Dreadful for a second, longer season. Penny Dreadful is to return for a ten-episode run next year, giving it a broader canvas on which to weave its tales of the supernatural demi-monde.

John Logan's deliciously dark nineteenth-century set show draws upon Gothic literature and showcases the rare talents of Eva Green and the rest of its impressive cast, including Rory Kinnear, Timothy Dalton, Josh Hartnett and Billie Piper. It promised stylish, grown-up horror, and that's exactly what it's been delivering.

This is a very good thing. Nice one Showtime.

Fecking good decision, "papyri, papyri" Oh bugger, must stop saying that...

Great news, really enjoying the series so far. Let's hope Showtime don't keep the show around long past its sell by date *cough* Dexter *cough*

Excellent. It's basically League of Extraordinary Gentlemen done properly, and it fills the gap left by that TV series not actually happening.

Isn't it happening? Because the last I heard was that they where in pre-production and that Fox must show the Pilot at least. It also might be for the 2015-2016 season. Fox doesn't do normal TV seasons anymore.

Homeland might be pushing it also in some respect.

Rory Kinnear was amazing in the last episode.

"Do not test me, Frankenstein. You have not known horror until I have shown it to you!" and I effing believed him!

How many episodes is season one then? I assumed it'd be 12 as most of these shows are.

10-12 is a perfect number for a season though. As much as I love The Walking Dead I feel that 16 episodes feels dragged out.

I think Homeland reached a logical conclusion in Season One and then (I felt) the writers didn't go through with it.

Penny Dreadful is written by one guy. If he also wants to do the second season, he needs a lot of inspiration for 10 or 12 episode or they will need another writer.

Eva Greens performances in this series are outstanding
