Peaky Blinders series 2 first teaser and image
Cillian Murphy is back as Tommy Shelby in BBC Two's second series of Peaky Blinders. See the first look image and teaser, here...
"Time to make some real money"
Returning this autumn to BBC Two is one of the best-looking, most engaging British period dramas of the last few years. Steven Knight (Locke, Hummingbird, Eastern Promises) first brought the violent and glamorous world of a criminal gang in post-WWI Birmingham and the Belfast copper trying to stop them to our screens in 2013, and now the drama is gearing up for its second series.
“It’s getting bigger" says Knight of series two, "it’s getting richer and as a result of that it’s getting more dangerous. The gang are entering areas of even greater jeopardy. And anyone like Tommy who is so good at what he does will attract dangerous people and he has to use his skills and his wits to survive. They don’t leave Birmingham, they stay centred there, but they expand the business into other areas.”
The cast, which spoiled us last year with Sam Neil, Helen McCrory and of course, Cillian Murphy, is also expanding. Tom Hardy (with whom Steven Knight worked on 2013's Locke) is confirmed to be joining the series as "a charismatic leader who presents a unique opportunity to Tommy".
