Tom Hardy joins the cast of Peaky Blinders series 2

News Simon Brew 14 Feb 2014 - 15:56

Tom Hardy will join Cillian Murphy in the cast of Peaky Blinders series 2, it's been announced.

Now here's a casting coup. The second series of the BBC's Peaky Blinders has added Tom Hardy to the cast, reuniting him with writer/director Steven Knight. Knight wrote and directed the film Locke, which is coming to cinemas later this year. And he also created Peaky Blinders, penning all six episodes of series two.

Tom Hardy joins a cast that already includes Cillian Murphy - the two were both in, to differing degrees, The Dark Knight Rises. And Hardy will be playing "a charismatic leader who presents a unique opportunity to Tommy Shelby".

Shooting on series two of the show starts later this month, and Peaky Blinders will be back on our screens in the autumn.

That's an unbelievable piece of casting for a BBC drama. Well in.

Don't forget they were also both in inception.
Excellent news anyway, perhaps more viewers will be drawn to this deserving series

An already awesome show just got even better

Let the games begin.

Great series, criminally under-promoted by the BBC. Looking forward to series two even more now!

My old chum Dan Fearn has also been cast in a few episodes but you don't hear me talking about it.
